Some computer users believe that when they delete a file, said file is gone forever. The simple truth of the matter is that the data is still there and it will remain there until it is overwritten. And because it is still there, it can be brought back to life. You can do that with Recover Data for FAT & NTFS, a data recovery solution for Windows-powered computers.

The Recover Data for FAT & NTFS installation file is of 3.6MB, meaning that downloading it will not take much of your time. A setup wizard will then guide you through the installation process; you will be asked if you want a desktop shortcut and quick launch icon, you will not be asked to select where the application will be installed. The installation process will take little of your time as well.

The application’s interface (which is found to be quite good looking by the way) puts its functionality front and center. There are four big icons right in the middle: Quick Scan, Exhaustive Scan, Raw Recovery, and Disk Imaging. Small text above the icons explains which you should choose. If you want to recover deleted or lost files, go with a Quick Scan. If you want to recover files from corrupted drives, partitions, or folders, select the Exhaustive Scan. Go with Raw Recovery if you want to bring back long lost files. And last but not least, select Disk Imaging if you’re dealing with disks that have bad sectors.

No matter which function you choose, a wizard will then guide you through the process of getting your data back. The thing that you must keep in mind is that data recovery is always a risky business. There is always the chance that you won’t be able to recover your data. Several factors influence your chances of bringing data back to life. That’s why it pays to have backups. Should a data loss accident occur and you can’t recover the data with a data recovery tool, you have the backups.

Please note that the trial version of Recover Data for FAT & NTFS detects the files that can be recovered, but it does not recover them.

With the help of the user friendly Recover Data for FAT & NTFS application you can rapidly recover your lost or accidentally deleted files.

Pros

Very simple installation process and a good looking interface. Four data recovery modes: Quick Scan, Exhaustive Scan, Raw Recovery, and Disk Imaging. Works with Windows 7.

Cons

The trial version detects recoverable files, but doesn’t recover them.
